Career Management: Individual Development Planning (IDPs)

Your organization benefits from having a competent and motivated workforce, capable of "re-tooling" itself to meet the demands placed on it by constant organizational and technological changes. The focus of his course is on our personal accountability to identify skills and competencies needed to manage our own careers.

Objectives:

  • Define and explain an Individual Development Plan (IDP) and the process in your organization
  • Review and discuss the mutual role of the employee and his/her supervisor, important considerations and challenges
  • Recognize strategies and ways to address challenges of development
  • Draft a preliminary IDP

Group discussion, application to participants’ work groups and in-class practice are supported with Powerpoint slides and re-useable materials for participants.
